The New York Giants are in need of a pass rusher after trading linebacker Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns, and they may have found someone who fits the bill.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, the Giants are interested in free-agent defensive end Vinny Curry, who is also visiting with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday.

Curry spent the 2018 campaign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing in 12 games and totaling 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Marshall University, was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (59th overall pick) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He had a very disappointing rookie campaign, appearing in just six contests and recording nine tackles. Then, the following year, Curry played in 14 games and was a bit more productive, finishing with 23 tackles and four sacks.

The Neptune, N.J. native then had a breakout season in 2014, racking up 19 tackles, nine sacks, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery over the course of his first full 16-game campaign.

That represented the peak of Curry's career, as he has not had a season that productive since.

The very next year, he registered just 12 tackles and 3.5 sacks, and in 2016, he posted 26 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Curry then went on to win a Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2017 and had a a slightly better season, logging 42 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.

He proceeded to sign with the Buccaneers last offseason.

The Giants won just five games in 2018 and have made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.
