The New York Giants fired Pat Shurmur on Monday and have been compiling a list of coaches who could replace him in 2020. According to Adam Schefter, New York is interviewing the New England Patriots' special teams coordinator Joe Judge for their head coaching position.

Judge has been with the Patriots since 2012 when he became a special teams assistant with the team. The Mississippi State graduate would later become New England's special teams coordinator in 2015.

Following Chad O'Shea's departure to the Miami Dolphins, Judge was also named the team's wide receivers coach in 2019. Surprisingly enough, Judge is the only assistant in the NFL that is a special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach at the same time.

Since Judge has been with the Patriots, the franchise has won three Super Bowls. In addition, Judge is someone who has helped Matthew Slater become one of the best special teams players in recent memory.

When teams begin interviewing coaching candidates, it's rare to see many special teams coordinators make the list. However, there is one in particular that coaches the team with the best record in the NFL in 2019.

Before John Harbaugh was hired by the Baltimore Ravens, Harbaugh was a special teams coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, Harbaugh would help lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl in 2012.

Provided that, the Giants are making sure they do their due diligence on a variety of coaches. That means that even someone like Judge—who has no experience as a head coach—will be considered for the job.
