The New York Giants are moving on from head coach Joe Judge, and the team made it official with a statement confirming the departure of the veteran tactician.

In a statement after reports of Judge's sacking surfaced, team president John Mara highlighted the Giants' belief that it is in their “best interest” to part ways with Judge and move to another direction. Mara also shared that he didn't feel good about the direction they were heading with the 40-year-old coach, which is why they had to make the change.

“I said before the season started that I wanted to feel good about the direction we were headed when we played our last game of the season. Unfortunately, I cannot make that statement, which is why we have made this decision,” Mara said in the statement, per Armando Salguero of Outkick.

Joe Judge lasted only two seasons with the Giants after he was hired in 2020. His time was marred with mediocrity, and it didn't help that the team stepped back record-wise in his second year instead of improving–going 4-13 this 2021 after a 6-10 2020 campaign.

For what it's worth, the Giants are not prioritizing finding Joe Judge's immediate replacement. Instead, they are looking to hire a general manager first after Senior VP and GM Dave Gettleman retired from his post.

The upcoming New York GM will then be responsible for hiring their next head coach.
