The New York Giants have placed tight end Evan Engram on the injured reserve list due to a foot injury, the team announced.

So ends another injury-marred season for the talented pass-catcher.

Engram had missed the last five games due to the injury. He appeared close to returning at one point, but New York decided that his foot did not heal sufficiently enough to bring him back.

The 25-year-old also missed a game earlier in the year as a result of an MCL sprain.

Overall, Engram appeared in eight contests in 2019, finishing with 44 catches for 467 yards and three touchdowns.

Talent is not the issue with Engram, who possesses the ability to be one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He posted a pair of 100-plus yard games in two of the first three weeks of the season and was developing into a favorite target for rookie quarterback Daniel Jones before the injuries added up.

Engram, who played his collegiate football at the University of Mississippi, was originally selected by the Giants in the first round (23rd pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He played in 15 games during his rookie campaign, catching 64 passes for 722 yards and six scores. Then, the following year, Engram was limited to 11 contests due to injury issues and totaled 45 grabs for 577 yards and three touchdowns.

New York snapped its eight-game losing streak with its win over the Miami Dolphins this past Sunday, but the G-Men still sit at just 3-11 on the season.

The Giants will battle the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
