The New York Giants gave Markus Golden a chance to test the open market this offseason and it proved to be a beneficial move. While New York has regained the rights to Golden, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Golden isn't interested in signing his tender right now.

After allowing Golden to test free agency for a month, the Giants chose to place the rare UFA tender on the edge rusher. The UFA tender gives Golden a chance to sign with a new team by the time training camps begin. At the same time, it ensures that New York would still receive a compensatory pick for Golden.

However, since he received little to no interest in free agency, the Giants have retained Golden at 110 percent of his salary from a season ago. As a result, he's set to make $4.1 million with the team in the upcoming season. With that being said, Golden has no intention of signing the tender as of this moment.

Last offseason, the Giants signed Golden to a one-year, prove-it deal in hopes he could bolster their pass rush. The former second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals would tally a team-high 10 sacks and 27 quarterback hits in 2019. Furthermore, he would be the first Giants linebacker to notch 10-plus sacks in a season since Lawrence Taylor did so in 1990.

Seeing that the deadline passed for Golden to sign with another team, he can only play with the Giants in 2020. In light of that though, Golden could complicate the situation and decide to sit out until he feels like signing the dotted line.
