The New York Giants could possibly have a key piece of their offensive attack back for the upcoming Monday Night Football matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley has been sidelined since the Giants' Week 5 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys due to a nagging ankle injury. He rolled up his ankle on Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis in the first half and was later carted off to the locker room.

While there was much speculation that the Giants would opt to place him on injured reserve, they elected against doing so, although he has now missed their last four games.

Following the bye week, Barkley participated in individual drills with the team on Monday.

Now, as noted by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Giants have been “encouraged” by Barkley's recent progress from his ankle injury. Of course, this bodes well for his chances of possibly making his return to action against the Buccaneers this week.

On Wednesday, Giants head coach Joe Judge provided a minor update on Barkley where he did not offer a perspective on whether the running back may feature against Tampa Bay but rather mentioned that the team will see “how he progresses” this week.

In Barkley's absence, backup running back Devontae Booker has stepped up to the calling for the Giants thanks to his 382 yards from scrimmage and one total touchdown in their last four games. Regardless of Barkley's availability for Week 11, Booker could possibly feature for the team as both a rusher and pass-catcher against the reigning Super Bowl champions.
