New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a massive five-year extension worth up to $95 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Beckham's $65 million is the highest amount of guaranteed money ever given to a wide receiver. Meanwhile, his new average salary of $19 million per year now makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in the league, eclipsing the $17 million of Pittsburgh Steelers superstar Antonio Brown.

It was reported last week that the two sides had made significant progress on the record-breaking deal and that they would potentially be able to get it done before the start of the season. They've accomplished that with a lot of time to spare.

Beckham, who is still recovering from the season-ending ankle injury he suffered last year, was believed to be a potential holdout candidate as he looked to get his new deal. He was even linked in some trade rumors as a result.

But instead of holding out, OBJ has done all the right things. He reported to offseason workouts and OTAs while rehabbing his ankle, and also showed up in time for training camp. And after the two sides began contract talks earlier this month, he has now been rewarded with his record-breaking contract.

Beckham has certainly earned the right to get paid. In his first three years in the league, Beckham put up an average of nearly 100 catches, over 1,300 yards, and close to 12 touchdowns per season. And by handing Beckham his massive deal, the Giants don't appear to have much hesitation that he will eventually be able to return to that elite level following his serious injury.
