The 2017 NFL season is one of the New York Giants would like to forget quickly. Nothing went right last season with head coach Ben McAdoo seemingly losing the team from the start, injuries taking a massive toll on the offense, and at one point quarterback Eli Manning being demoted for the first time in his career.

The franchise and its star players have moved on and won't be looking in the rearview with the 2018 campaign right around the corner. Manning, who probably had it worse than anyone in 2017, is confident about the team's direction under new head coach Pat Shurmur and the fact he'll have his favorite target, Odell Beckham Jr. back healthy and ready to go, via NFL.com.

“He looks great,” Manning said. “He looks healthy.”

Beckham played in only three games last season with the superstar wide receiver dealing with ankle issues. He initially suffered an ankle injury during the preseason and then fractured the ankle in early October eventually ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Despite an ongoing contract situation that may need to be resolved before the start of next season, Beckham has been around the team and working his way back to 100 percent. Manning knows last season was a difficult time for Beckham and that it took a toll on the wideout.

“I think last year it was tough on him being injured and going through those things,” Manning said. “He wants to come out and have a big year, play well and get to scoring touchdowns and celebrating and having fun again. I think he misses that part of his life — the excitement of playing football and winning games, and enjoying that part of it.”

As long as the desire of a contract extension doesn't mess with the relationship between the Giants and Beckham or result in missed time on the field, the perennial Pro Bowler seems motivated to have a bounce-back year in 2018.

It'll be interesting to see how the Giants do next season with Beckham and Manning on a mission and rookie running back Saquon Barkley coming out of the backfield.
