New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been dealing with a quad injury that has already kept him out of action for last Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins and could once again this week.

This is a situation that there had been little talk about leading into Week 14 action against the Redskins aside from Beckham Jr. posting on social media that he was dealing with that injury. Since then, it appears that head coach Pat Shurmur has responded with an indirect message for Beckham Jr. to not discuss his injuries, according to Pat Leonard of The New York Daily News.

“I think he’s getting better each day, but we’ll know more as the week goes on,” Shurmur said. “And I encourage our players not to talk about their injuries. So hopefully that’s about all you’ll get out of it.”

The reasoning for these comments from Shurmur likely comes due to the confusion that was created by Beckham Jr.'s decision to discuss the matter last Friday. It has immediately led to the team putting him in the injury report then it was followed by him suggesting that he would play. All of this was then shifted on Saturday with him voicing that he was out of the lineup and not going to make the trip to the game.

All of this created an unnecessary dialogue around the situation that had only muddied up the conversation that was still fluid. It was a matter that was essentially out of his hands as he had no clear idea of what his availability would be for last Sunday's game would be until late in the weekend.

Nonetheless, Shurmur and the Giants are hoping that this could lead to Beckham Jr. to avoiding discussing injuries altogether moving forward in order to prevent another confusing situation from arising in the process.
