New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning struggled last season, but head coach Pat Shurmur expects the veteran back next season:

At a press conference at the combine, Shurmur said he still thinks Manning has at least a few years to play in the league:

“I think Eli has proven he can win games,” Shurmur said, per Sports Illustrated.

If Manning is back, it will be his 16th year with the Giants, and what a career it has been. He has won two Super Bowls and been the Super Bowl MVP twice, but the last few years his play has really fallen off, and the Giants have had all kinds of issues winning games.

The big question now is what exactly does Shurmur mean by these comments. Shurmur could be saying this because he wants Manning to start next year and has no plans to draft a quarterback.

The Giants could also draft a quarterback and sit him behind Manning for a year or two while the player drafted tries to get used to the NFL.

These could also just be comments made by Shurmur in hopes of not hurting Manning in case they want to draft a quarterback, but don't and go back to having full faith in the veteran moving forward.

The picture should become clearer after the draft if the Giants come out of it with a quarterback. A lot of mock drafts have the Giants selecting Dwayne Haskins out of Ohio State with their first-round pick.
