Last season it was the Saquon Barkley show for the New York Giants but this season coach Pat Shurmur is looking for a more balanced attack. Earlier this week Shurmur was asked if he expected Barkley to take on a bigger role and Shurmur didn't seem too on with that idea, instead wanting more production from everyone.

“I don't know about more,” Shurmur told reporters earlier in the week on the Giants' opening day of organized team activities, via the team's official website. “I think he had a big load a year ago, but it's best if we can spread the ball around.”

Last season Barkley rushed 261 times for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 91 passes out of the backfield for 721 yards and four scores. That was enough for Barkley to win the NFL offensive rookie of the year and also put bigger expectations going forward for him.

The big question now for the Giants is who is going to step up to take off some weight for Barkley. Eli Manning is going to start the season and it's clear his better days are behind him. The team doesn't have Odell Beckham Jr anymore and he was one of the guys to have success outside of Barkley last year.

The team did sign Golden Tate this offseason and they are expecting big things out of him, along with Sterling Shepard and tight end Evan Engram.

If other guys can step up and Barkley can still have a big year, this offense might be better than what people are expecting.
