The New York Giants rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta will be ready if the team decides to put him under center this season.

Lauletta was drafted by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL draft, but he has yet to play this year.

However, Lauletta was officially active in New York's Week 13 clash against the Chicago Bears, which marked the first time this season that he was listed as Eli Manning's backup on the depth chart.

And should the rookie get the call in one of the Giants' final four games this season, it sounds like he'll be more than ready for the opportunity.

From Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com:

“I was ready to go and that’s all that matters,” Lauletta said after the 30-27 overtime victory. “That was the first time I was able to put my pads on in a regular-season game. I got a little taste of the NFL in the preseason but since then I haven’t been able to. It felt great, and I hope I’m in this position again next week.”

Head coach Pat Shurmur is also pleased with Lauletta's progress this season despite not playing yet.

“I think behind the scenes he’s done a good job and that’s really what happens for the backups this time of year,” Shurmur said. “I think he’s made progress here during the season and it’s just the next step for him.”

Shurmur has already announced that Manning will start in Week 14, but it sounds like Lauletta could see some playing time before the season is over.

The Giants will return to the field on Sunday when they travel to Washington to take on the Redskins.
