One of the biggest questions coming out of the New York Giants' 20-19 win over the Washington Football Team is why first round draft pick Andrew Thomas was benched for the beginning of the game.

The reason, however, shows what kind of head coach Joe Judge will be in the Big Apple.

Speaking to the media following the game, Thomas revealed why he did not play the first quarter.

“I was late for our meeting last night,” Andrew Thomas said. “Coach Judge always talks about actions have consequences, and I take responsibility for my actions and the consequences. It won’t happen again.”

This sends a message to the entire Giants that, no matter who you are and no matter where you are in the pecking order, you are expected to follow Judge's rules or face the consequences.

Joe really is Judge, jury and executioner in the Giants' locker room.

Thomas is in his first year in the NFL after being drafted by the Giants with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Georgia. One of the big storylines heading into the game this week was expected to be the matchup between Thomas and Chase Young, who was selected by Washington with the second overall pick out of Ohio State.

Both players are expected to be Pro Bowl-caliber linemen in the NFL for a long time, and with them both in the NFC East, they are expected to match up against each other a lot throughout their stints with their respective teams.

The Giants will next face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly.
