Evan Longoria is set to be activated from the injured list prior to the Giants Wednesday matchup with the Rockies in San Francisco. Longoria injured his finger in late March and was forced to undergo surgery. His timetable was unclear, but there were people around the Giants organization who believed he could be out anywhere from 1-2 months. Longoria ended up missing just over one month of the regular season.

The former All-Star went 5-18 during his minor league rehab games and looks ready to roll. He has been with the team since Monday after joining the Giants following his rehab. But San Francisco wanted to make sure he was completely healthy before officially activating him.

Evan Longoria commented on his status prior to being activated and discussed how he felt in his rehab games.

“I’m as close to ready as I’ll be. We have some conversations to be had, but I definitely feel the hand is healthy,” Longoria explained. “My at-bats were just OK down there. I struck out too much. You get a little bit jaded by the big leagues. My focus has been does my hand feel good? Does my body feel good? Am I swinging at the right pitches? I felt like a lot of my at-bats down there, especially, the ones I struck out in, I had pitches to hit in the at-bat and I just didn’t put them in play. I think some of it, right or wrong, is lack of focus. … Physically I feel good.”

The Giants enter Wednesday's action with a solid record of 18-12. However, they trail the Padres and Dodgers in the NL West. Perhaps Evan Longoria can help them surpass LA and San Diego in the division.
