Despite New York Giants head coach Joe Judge boldly claiming that the team is heading in the right direction, fans of the team are outraged with its direction and lack of success in recent memory.
All the losing the Giants have done in recent years is not all on Judge. Several others, like team president/CEO John Mara and general manager Dave Gettleman, deserve to be blamed even more than the coach. Still, Judge's strong talk and cowardly coaching decisions don't help matters in any way.
After a humiliating loss last weekend, Judge ranted for over 10 minutes about all the good things the Giants have going for them and that former players miss being on the team. He was met instantly with pushback from fans and media. Saquon Barkley, though, is on Judge's side. The running back acknowledged the internal improvement of the team that Judge touted while also recognizing why fans are upset.
Saquon Barkley says it may not look like it, but the Giants are headed in the right direction. He sees it internally. He also understands why fans are frustrated.

It appears as though Judge's tough-guy tactics may actually have a positive impact on the Giants behind the scenes. Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham said he trusts Judge's vision and safety Logan Ryan touted Judge's consistency and willingness to listen to his players.
Logan Ryan on Joe Judge: “I would just say that Joe has been consistent in his approach with us. He’s treated us with respect … I just think he’s been a coach and a man willing to listen to his players … He’s just been consistent with us since Day 1.” #Giants

Gettleman's Giants have been historically inept thanks in large part to hiring Judge and failing to find success with Barkley after drafting him second overall in 2018. With little progress being made (or, at least, being shown), New York is headed into another crucial yet uninspiring offseason.
As the only publicly known inhabitants of Positivity Island, Barkley and Judge will soon have to prove that their stay on the island is worthwhile. If the change they speak of doesn't soon translate to the field, they may start to feel as stranded and hopeless as New York fans do.
