The 2018 NFL season came to a disappointing end for the New York Giants. It appears running back Saquon Barkley has already shifted gears toward the offseason.

It is no secret that Barkley is coming off a spectacular rookie campaign. According to Madelyn Burke of Giants.com, he was spend the offseason studying film on himself:

“Something that helps me a lot and is also one of my downfalls, I’m an over-thinker. I over-think a lot, I over-analyze a lot,” Barkley said. “I normally go back and watch every single play that I had; watch every single time I had the ball in my hands and just see what I could have done better.

It is certainly encouraging to see a player of Barkley's caliber still looking for ways to improve. This is one of the few qualities that made him such a highly-touted draft pick. However, he may have a difficult time trying to drum up ways he could have been better.

Barkley ran for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns on 261 carries. He also flashed his versatility as a receiver by tacking on 91 receptions for 721 yards and four touchdowns. Despite the Giants disappointing season, he is pegged as the frontrunner to take home Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

New York caught plenty of flak for taking a running back with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft rather than the bevy of quarterbacks that were available. Fortunately, Barkley has given the Giants plenty of bang for their buck as one of the best players at his position this season.
