The New York Giants are headed into a pivotal season. After a very disappointing 2018 campaign, the team appears set to run it back with Eli Manning next season. If Manning doesn't deliver, it'll almost certainly be his last year in a Giants uniform.

But while Manning has garnered most of the attention, the most important player on the team right now is Saquon Barkley.

Barkley was the heart and soul of the team last year, and the engine of the offense. Barkley has mostly stayed away from the spotlight this offseason, but he did make a recent appearance on Bleacher Report's ‘Take It There' with Taylor Rooks.

In the interview, Barkley revealed he was almost never named Saquon, and that his father wanted to name him after a certain famous rapper.

“My dad’s a big Tupac fan, and I think the year before, Tupac died, and he was trying to name me Tupac Makaveli. And my mom was not having that at all,” Barkley explained.

Barkley said his dad continued to push for the name until his mom finally “put her foot down.” Unfortunately his dad lost out, but it's still fun to imagine if he hadn't.

Barkley had a hugely successful rookie season, and will be looking to build on it in 2019. Barkley won the league's Rookie of the Year Award last year, and could be in for an even bigger workload next season.

With Odell Beckham Jr. being traded to the Browns, the Giants will be relying on Barkley to carry even more of the load on offense.
