New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is coming off of a fantastic rookie season, and with Odell Beckham Jr. now playing his football elsewhere, Barkley is stepping into the spotlight as the most talented player on the Giants, and he knows it.

When asked by Michael Vivalo of Elite Sports New York, about who the best running back in the NFL is, Barkley gave a pretty straightforward answer: himself.

While the 22-year-old made sure to shout out other candidates such as Ezekiel Elliott, Todd Gurley, Alvin Kamara, and Christian McCaffrey, he feels that he is a cut above the rest.

It is certainly a debatable question, as Elliott has led the league in rushing in two of his first three seasons in the league and Gurley is clearly one of the top backs in the game, it's hard to argue with Barkley's claim.

At the very worst, Barkley is a top five halfback in the league, as he is coming off of a monster year in which he racked up 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground, averaging five yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 91 receptions for 721 yards and four scores.

Still, some might argue that Barkley needs to do it for more than just one year to claim the title of best in the league, and that is definitely a fair assessment.

Barkley, who played his collegiate football at Penn State University, was originally selected by the Giants with the second overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
