New York Giants' quarterback Eli Manning has taken heaps of criticism over the last couple of years, with many stating that he is no longer fit to be the Giants' starting signal-caller.

However, New York running back Saquon Barkley is tired of hearing Manning take the blame, saying that Big Blue's struggles in recent years are not No. 10's fault.

“Yeah, it bothers me. I’m not going to lie because it’s not his fault,” Barkley said, via Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. “He’s not the reason why. We love to put the blame on one person, but it takes 11 men, a team and an organization all together to win.”

Barkley certainly makes a great point.

While Manning is definitely not the same player he was years ago, there has been a whole lot wrong with the Giants over the last two seasons that goes far beyond their quarterback situation.

For starters, New York has had a paltry offensive line, so Manning has had limited time to throw the football. The Giants have also been hit with injuries up and down the roster, and defensively, the team has been an unmitigated disaster.

Now 38 years old, Manning is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 4,299 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.4.

Sure, those are not elite numbers, but they are hardly terrible, so it's easy to see where Barkley is coming from.

New York won just five games this past season and has made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.
