New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has taken a lot of flak lately amid the Giants' struggles. After refusing to meet with the media following the Giants' Week 16 loss, Barkley was available to the press on Wednesday. With the Giants out of reach of the playoffs, Barkley was asked whether he was considering sitting out the final two games of the year, to which the running back had a blunt one-word reply. Via Paul Schwartz of the NY Post, Barkley simply said “no” regarding the possibility of taking a seat for Weeks 17 and 18.

There's been plenty of discussion lately as to what the Giants' best course of action with their star running back would be. But if you ask Barkley himself, he doesn't envision himself on the sideline down the stretch, regardless of the injury struggles he battled this season.

Many people have speculated that Barkley isn't at 100%, and suggested that the Giants should preserve his health by keeping out for the rest of the year. Ever since suffering the ACL injury in 2020, Barkley has struggled to rediscover the form that saw him drafted as the No. 2 overall pick in 2019.

This season, Barkley has rushed 130 times for 461 yards and just two touchdowns. He's averaging a career-worst 3.5 yards per carry and has been limited to just 11 games. After a rookie season that saw Barkley tally over 1,300 rushing yards with seven touchdowns, the significant decrease in production has Giants fans rightfully worried.

With this season effectively being a wash for the Giants, the team will have to make a decision on whether Barkley will suit up in the final two games of the year. We know how he feels on the matter, but the team will do what it feels is best for their long-term success.
