The New York Giants have been waiting anxiously all week to see the status of star running back Saquon Barkley for the Thursday night showdown against the Washington Football Team. But, they finally get their answer.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Barkley is ready to go for the game against division rival Washington.

Barkley suffered a season-ending ACL injury last year and has had a long road back. His status for Week 1 was always in doubt, but he ultimately suited up and had a mediocre performance as the Giants got beat by the Denver Broncos.

But, he is ready to roll and is going to try to bounce back and have a big night on prime time television in a golden opportunity to get things going. What is unfortunate is the talent level of Washington, who are absolutely loaded on defense.

Washington will be without Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is out for up to eight weeks after being injured in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers, so Taylor Heinicke will take the reins and try and keep them competitive for the next couple of months.

Either way here's to hoping Barkley can return to his former self and have a strong 2021 season.
