Add Shannon Sharpe to the seemingly neverending list of critics of New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, as Sharpe ripped Manning during his team's game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon:

Sorry, but this is an exaggeration.

Manning has not looked nearly as bad as many would lead you to believe this season, as he has thrown for 3,998 yards and 19 touchdowns on the year, completing a career-high 66.5 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.7. He has thrown 11 interceptions, but so have a whole lot of other quarterbacks in the league.

It also can't be easy playing behind an offensive line that has allowed 46 sacks on the year.

The perception of Manning has been clouded for quite some time.

One of the more polarizing players in sports, Manning is certainly not the same player we saw back in 2011, but, save for one really bad year in 2013, he has actually been decent, even making it to the Pro Bowl in 2015.

The 37-year-old has won two Super Bowls, nabbing Super Bowl MVP honors both times. In both of those championship runs, Manning topped Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, something that will certainly carry heavy weight when it comes to deciding whether or not he heads to the Hall of Fame.

The Giants as a whole, however, have not been very successful in recent years.

Since winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign, New York has made it to the playoffs just once.

Big Blue entered its season finale on Sunday with a record of 5-10.
