The New York Giants have dealt with their fair share of struggles in the receiving corps heading into the 2019 NFL season. It seems that will be the case once again in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills.

Shepard suffered a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, he has been ruled out against the Bills:

Giants' WR Sterling Shepard ruled out of Sunday's game vs. Buffalo due to concussion.

Shepard's designation certainly deals a crushing blow to the receiving corps. He filled in as the No. 1 option in the passing game with the departure of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this offseason. The 26-year-old was on the field for all but one snap on offense and finished with six catches for 42 yards.

The Giants have dealt with an injury bug in their receiving corps throughout the entire offseason, and their woes have now spilled over into the regular season. They had already been dealt a crushing blow after wide receiver Golden Tate was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Now wide receivers Cody Latimer and Darius Slayton could also be doubtful after missing practice as well.

Quarterback Eli Manning has caught plenty of flak for his underwhelming performance as of late. His situation has hardly been helped by the lack of pass-catchers in his repertoire. Recent reports suggest he will need to continue to make do with what is available against the Bills.
