Through his first two seasons in the league, New York Giants tight end Evan Engram has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in the league behind his ability to impact the passing game.

However, Engram has had notable struggles with dropping passes that have seen him make three drops this season alone and 14 overall over the last two years. With that in mind, he has voiced concern that it's an area where he's looking to improve moving forward, according to Jim Hague of The Associated Press.

“It's pretty tough,” Engram said Thursday before the team practiced in preparation for facing the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.

“It's not where I want to be. I have to put some of these plays behind me and keep working on getting better and staying positive.”

Engram has shown to be a talented receiving talent at his position but has continued to be plagued by dropped passes through his brief time in the league. This was certainly something that he had much difficulty with in his rookie campaign despite making 64 catches for 722 yards and six touchdowns as he dropped 11 balls last year. He currently has 17 receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns in five games played.

He has cut down on that number so far this season, but it is clearly an area of needed improvement in order for him to take that next step in his development. It is also needed for him to become a more reliable target late in games and key moments. There is no question he has playmaking ability, it is just a matter of him improving that area of his ability.

If he wants to be a long-term part of the puzzle next to running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., he will have to step it up in this aspect of his game.
