Daniel Jones' first three years with the New York Giants has not gone according to plan. The quarterback was slated to be the next star in the Big Apple after Eli Manning. However, Jones just couldn't seem to put together a coherent season. That eventually led to the team not picking up his fifth-year option for the 2023 season.

If you were to ask Eli Manning, though, Daniel Jones' failure isn't all on him. As the two-time Super Bowl winner noted, the Giants' lack of consistency throughout Jones' career has taken a massive toll on him. In contrast, Manning was able to acclimate to the new offense in five years without any major changes. (via NFL.com)

“By my fifth year, I had been in the same offense the whole time, I knew it, I could coach it up… And with (Jones), it's all new, and it's learning, and he's consistently trying to learn and learn and learn, and it just takes some time before it all sinks in.”

Jones' Giants career has been characterized by a revolving door at the coaching positions. When he was drafted in 2019, he had Pat Schurmur and Mike Shula calling the shots. By the end of the year, both men were fired, replaced by Joe Judge and Jason Garrett. Garrett would eventually be fired midway through the 2021 season, and Judge was let go soon after.

The Giants are hoping that their new coaching stuff starts to spark a change for Daniel Jones. Brian Daboll is largely credited with the success of Josh Allen's development in Buffalo. If the ex-Bills OC sticks around for longer than a year, maybe we will see Jones' talent fully realized.
