Up until now the New York Giants have been content with going forward with their 38-year-old quarterback, Eli Manning. However, according to Kansas City Chiefs' safety, Tyrann Mathieu, New York may want to make a few phone calls to the Seattle Seahawks.

Mathieu said on Twitter that Seahawks' quarterback, Russell Wilson, wants to play for the Giants, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“Russ wants New York,” Mathieu wrote. “But you ain’t heard that from T.”

Wilson, who is entering the final year of a four-year, $87.6 million extension that he signed in the summer of 2015, has begun negotiations with the Seahawks for a new deal, and had imposed a deadline of April 15 to get an extension done. Al did say in January that he will play the 2019 season without a new contract “if that’s what I’ve got to do.”

Wilson is the 12th highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, and rumors indicate that he could be looking for a contract to make him the highest-paid in the entire NFL, which could cost the Seahawks roughly $35 million annually.

This isn't the first time Wilson to the Giants has been mentioned, this past February, Fox Sports radio and television personality Colin Cowherd said he had heard similar rumors.

Additionally, the Giants wouldn't be the first New York team Wilson has played for, in February of 2018, the rights to Wilson were traded from the Colorado Rockies to the New York Yankees and has since played for the team during spring training.

Seattle's 30-year-old quarterback is coming off his seventh NFL season, in which he threw for 3,448 yard, 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while running for 376 yards, but had no rushing touchdowns for the first time in his career. Eli Manning threw for 4,299 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 picks.

Wilson wouldn't come cheap for the Giants, however after trading Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns, they do have Cleveland's first and third round picks this year to ship over if they are interested.
