New York Giants standout rookie running back Saquon Barkley has continued to add to his impressive first campaign that has seen him push his way up toward being in possible contention for the rushing title.

Barkley has had a notable pick up in production over the last several weeks that has put him in striking distance to potentially push his way toward that prestigious mark. With that in mind, rookie guard Will Hernandez has voiced that this has become a big driving point for not only the former Penn State product but also the entire team, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

“If it’s a big deal to him, it’s a big deal to us,” rookie guard Will Hernandez told The Post. “That’s our No. 1 priority, make sure these guys are successful in whatever they do, whether it’s catching the ball, getting the balls thrown and running the ball, that’s our job. We want to make sure these guys get to where they want to get. We’re gonna give them 100 percent of us.”

The Giants have certainly shown that to be the case over the last several games behind their improved play on the field, winning four out of their last five contests in the process. This has seen Barkley take center stage as their primary offensive weapon by notching four straight 100 rushing yard performances topped by a career-high 170 rushing yards on 14 attempts and a touchdown.

All of this has pushed him into third in the league in rushing with 1,124 yards just a tad behind Dallas Cowboys' running back Ezekiel Elliott (1,262) and Los Angeles Rams' star Todd Gurley (1,203).

Barkley will have to keep up this torrid pace to surpass both Gurley and Elliott in the final three games of the season, which is certainly a possibility given the way he is playing at this point.

Regardless if he earns the rushing title or not, Barkley has more than proven that he is a superstar talent at his position that has bright future ahead of him in New York.
