New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will start on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 38-year-old quarterback is playing in place of injured rookie Daniel Jones (high ankle sprain). There is a possibility that Sunday's game is his last career home outing.

The Giants made quite the investment when they took Jones, at No. 6 overall, in the 2019 NFL draft. Although there was plenty of speculation regarding when he would be ready to play, it did not take very long for head coach Pat Shurmur to usher in the new era by having him replace Manning in Week 2.

While the season has hardly gone as planned since then, there seems to be little doubt about the rookie's status as the future franchise quarterback. This could be why New York has opted to take a cautious approach with his recovery by not taking any chances and keeping him off the field. Meanwhile, it is also an opportunity for Manning to go out with a bang potentially.

The veteran is in the final year of his contract, and all signs suggest that these could be his last days with the Giants. Whether or not this is the case, it is safe to say that Manning will be looking to show out in front of the home crowd. He did a solid job of filling in for Jones during the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles after completing 15-of-30 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns.

On Sunday, Manning will get a chance to turn his career losing record of 116-117 into a career .500 one.
