New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley has continued to put together an impressive first NFL campaign that has continued to earn much recognition and praise around the league.
This has subsequently landed him in the conversation toward being a frontrunner to earn the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. BetOnline.ag has currently listed him as being slightly ahead of Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield for the honor.

Barkley has quickly proven to be a special talent out of the backfield behind his impressive combination of speed, strength, and vision running the ball that has helped him get off to a strong start to his NFL career. He is currently fourth in the NFL with 481 rushing yards and fifth with five rushing touchdowns. This has seen him notch a pair of 100 rushing yard performances while scoring a touchdown five times this season. He has also been equally as valuable as a receiver out of the backfield ranking sixth in the league with 49 catches for 424 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
This has all put him on pace to record 2,068 total yards from scrimmage with 1,099 rushing yards and 969 receiving yards on 112 receptions for a total of 16 touchdowns. The up-and-coming Giants star has been at a mindboggling march toward putting together a historic campaign that may see him test becoming just the third player in league history behind Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk and former San Francisco 49ers great Rodger Craig to notch 1,000 rushing and receiving yards in a single season.
Meanwhile, Mayfield has shown to be a promising quarterback helping provide flashes of potential to becoming the answer under center that the Browns have long been searching to have. Mayfield has 1,291 passing yards with six touchdowns to five interceptions. New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold has demonstrated that he could be the future for the franchise to that has seen him pass for 1,552 yards with 10 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. All of this should continue to see each rookie continue to add to their building resume to earn that prestigious award.
