The New York Giants have gotten rid of two defensive players in two days after trading away cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints and defensive tackle Damon Harrison to the Detroit Lions. And they might not be done dealing yet.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the impression around the league is that anyone on their Giants’ defense can be had for the right price.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins has been rumored to be a potential trade target for teams in need of help in the secondary, per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Linebackers Olivier Vernon and Alec Ogletree, as well as safety Landon Collins are the other remaining big names on that defense that could potentially draw any interest in trades following the departures of Harrison and Apple.

It seems clear at this point that the Giants are ready to push the reset button following their disappointing 1-6 start to the season. Seeing as they are not going anywhere this year, it makes sense for them to clear the deck and start all over again.

But while the defense has not been good this season, they still have to address problems on the other side of the ball, particularly at quarterback. Eli Manning has not played well and is unlikely to get much better as he gets older. If the Giants are unable to sort out that glaring issue, they don’t figure to see much improvement next season regardless of the changes they end up making on defense.
