Ereck Flowers’ time as the New York Giants’ left tackle was over when they signed Nate Solder and made him the highest-paid player at the position. And now, it seems Flowers’ time as an actual Giants player may also be numbered.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the Giants may try to trade the former top-10 pick during the upcoming draft.

Don't be surprised to hear about the Giants possibly trying to move tackle Ereck Flowers during the draft. He hasn't been at the offseason workout program this spring, and it doesn't appear that has been particularly well received.

Flowers has been a major disappointment since the Giants drafted him No. 9 overall in 2015. He was extremely shaky in protecting Eli Manning’s blindside, which is why the Giants felt the need to pursue Solder this offseason. Flowers was set to compete for the right tackle job for the upcoming season.

However, Flowers has developed a bad reputation in just three short years in the league, with former teammate Geoff Schwartz accusing him of quitting on the team. It’s that questionable track record which Raanan notes could make it difficult for the Giants to trade the offensive lineman despite just one year and $2.4 million left on his deal. A team’s personnel executive even described Flowers as “not worth the trouble.”

The Giants likely feel that way as well if they actually are attempting to trade the 23-year-old away. He doesn't appear to have much of a future in New York with his contract about to expire, so it makes sense for the Giants to at least try and find a team willing to take a chance on him.
