After the comments made on Sunday by New York Giants co-owner John Mara about the future of superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with the team, it was revealed on Monday that the Giants are open to fielding offers for him.

According to an article published by Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the Giants are seeking at least a first-round pick in return for the star wideout.

“The price in a prospective Beckham trade is starting at a first-round pick plus. The ‘plus' is the negotiable part, but the meaning is that it likely won’t require two first-round picks to get it done,” Leonard said. “The Giants, of course, are in the driver’s seat to drive up the price. They essentially have invited GMs to make their bids and now can sit back, figure out who wants to buy into this high stakes sweepstakes and who doesn’t have the capital.”

It was also revealed that Beckham Jr., who has gradually become more of a team distraction for the Giants based on his off-field shenanigans, will not suit up to play for any team until he is signed to a contract extension.

“Mara’s comments on Sunday were not new feelings,” Leonard added. “It was simply new that he said it publicly. And as Mara said, while the Giants aren’t actively shopping Beckham, they’re certainly listening — or continuing to listen, that is.”

How does this all end up playing out before the start of the 2018-19 season? Have we already seen OBJ's last game in a Giants uniform or will New York be able to work something out with him? More details on this story will come as soon as they are made available.

In 47 games played over four years with New York, the Pro Bowl wide receiver has caught 313 passes for 4,424 yards and a whopping 38 touchdown receptions.
