The New York Giants hoped 2020 would be the year Daniel Jones would officially cement his place as the team's franchise quarterback.

However, the former No. 6 overall pick has struggled, completing just over 61 percent of his passes and averaging 6.1 yards per pass attempt to go with nine interceptions.

As a result, the Giants are 1-7, and in the running for the No. 1 overall pick. In other words, the G-Men could have the opportunity to draft either Clemson star quarterback Trevor Lawrence or Ohio State standout Justin Fields.

However, Giants head coach Joe Judge has repeatedly expressed his faith in Jones, and it seems likely the former Duke product will continue to be the team's signal-caller going forward.

Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com reported the Giants, despite Jones' early-season struggles, are enamored with Jones:

“They love him. They’re pleased with Daniel there internally,” a league source familiar with the Giants thinking told NJ Advance Media, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “He’s not going anywhere.”

Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky also opined Giants general manager Dave Gettleman will not draft a quarterback this spring:

“Dave Gettleman is not going to draft a quarterback early next year, I can promise you,” Orlovsky said, via Rosenblatt. “I don’t care if they have first pick, he ain’t taking a quarterback next year.”

TrevorLawrence has long been regarded as the top prospect in the coming draft and possibly a generational talent at the quarterback position. Fields is not far behind, dazzling with his athleticism and upside.

However, the Giants are still positing faith in Daniel Jones. The 23-year-old has made brilliant throws while establishing himself as a running threat, and the Giants have kept things tight in numerous games this year.

But it remains to be seen whether Jones can start winning and put an end to all the skepticism regarding his status.
