The New York Giants are having a hard time moving the chains in the first half of Thursday night's home game against the Philadephia Eagles — except when the ball is in the hands of rookie running back sensation Saquon Barkley.

During one particular play that's guaranteed to be talked about for days regardless of the outcome of this game, Barkley caught a short pass from quarterback Eli Manning off of a screen and ran the ball down the gut of the Eagles' defense for a huge 55-yard gain. It's more than just the number of yards he picked up via that one catch. It's the manner with which he eluded multiple Philadelphia defenders that sent Twitter exploding with Saquon mentions.

Saquon Barkley made the Eagles looked completely helpless in stopping him. And it's not just any ordinary defense that Barkley embarrassed. That's the same stop unit that entered Thursday's contest ranked second in the league against the run with only 66.4 rushing yards allowed per game.

The former Penn State star is the only bright spot so far in this game for the Giants' offense that often looks like as though it's stepping on a quicksand whenever the pigskin is not in possession of Barkley, who is on pace to finish the meeting with the Eagles with over 100 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards.
