Despite having missed nearly the entire 2017 NFL season, New York Giants superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. never shied away from the spotlight — for better or worse. This time it was the latter, as he may have found himself in some hot water with the NFL.

Beckham Jr. was recently accused of placing bets with an apparent high-stakes gambler named Robert Gorodetsky. However, Beckham’s agent, Zeke Sandhu, has since adamantly denied any of the claims made by Gorodetsky.

By way of Josh Peter of USA Today Sports:

“We do not know Robert nor can we confirm any of his statements,” Sandhu said. “We have confirmed with Odell that he has never placed any bets on any professional sports games. We can assure you that he has and will always continue to comply with all of the NFL’s rules and regulations regarding gambling activities.”

Gorodetsky claims that he had met Beckham through the Giants superstar's cousin and that the two had hit it off ever since. Needless to say, he also made several outlandish comments regarding his relationship with not only Bekcham Jr. but other notable celebrities as well.

While the legitimacy of Gorodetsky's assertions remain to be seen, the NFL will undoubtedly start to look into it if they have not already. It goes without saying that the NFL, among every other major professional sports league, has a strict policy against gambling of any sort for its employees.

That being said, the source of these claims should also be taken into account, and an investigation will (or should) be had before people go off on the receiver for whatever gambling-related reason.
