Giovanni Alejandro Reyna was born on November 13, 2002, in Sunderland, England. His father, Claudio Reyna, was playing for Sunderland A.F.C. when he was born. At the age of 5 years old, his family moved back to the United States and they lived in Bedford, New York.
Claudio Reyna played professional soccer for 14 years. He played in major European clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg, Rangers FC, Sunderland A.F.C., and Manchester City. On November 20, 2020, Borussia Dortmund and Giovannie Reyna have agreed on a contract extension that will keep the American midfielder with the club until June 2025.
