The 2020-21 PGA Tour season’s next stop is down in Texas this week, as the 2020 Vivint Houston Open is all set to kick off Thursday.  This one comes on the heels of the Bermuda Championship, which was won by Brian Gay, who pocketed $720,000 after topping the field at the Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton.

The Houston Open will also serve as the final event before The Masters, which is scheduled to begin on Nov. 12 at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. With all that being said, let’s take a look at some of the favorites and sleepers for this year’s edition of the Houston Open.

Dustin Johnson (+700)

Johnson, who tested positive for COVID-19 last month, is definitely a man to watch at the Houston Open. With odds of +700 to win this weekend, Johnson will look to win his first of the season. He had a T6 at the US Open last September and won three starts and finished inside the top 10 seven times in 14 events. He capped that season with as the FedEXCup champion.

Tyrell Hatton (+1600)

Hatton missed the cut at the US Open, but managed to snag a T3 at The CJ Cup at Shadow Creek before a T28 at the Zozo Championship. Hatton has been hot over the last 12 months during which he has picked up a trio of victories and a couple of T3s.

Zach Johnson (+4000)

Johnson started the season with a solid T8 at the US Open and has finished no worse than a T23 in his next two starts, including at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, where he went tied for 19th place.

Lanto Griffin (+4000)

Of course, Griffin has to be mentioned here, though not as a favorite, as he’s only priced +4000 to successfully defend the title he won at Memorial Park a year ago. Griffin is riding a wave of momentum into the 2020 Houston Open, as he had a T7 and a T11 in his last two starts at CJ Cup at Shadow Creek and at the Zozo Championship, respectively.

Other notable players on the field are the likes of Brooks Koepka, Tony Finau, and Lee Westwood, who will all vie for the largest cut of the $7 million purse in the tournament. Note that all odds used in this article are from PointsBet.
