Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward dropped some news a day before the 2018-19 NBA season kicks off. In a brief message on Twitter, Hayward announced that he’s partnering with China-based sporting apparel company, Anta.

It’s probably not the kind of pair that will make sneakerheads fall head over heels with, but that’s something that remains to be seen. The hope for Gordon Hayward and Anta with regards to the shoes is that it will not get the same treatment from the market that Stephen Curry’s signature pair (the Curry 2 Low “Chef”) from Under Armour got two years ago.

The public’s perception of his Anta-produced sneakers is likely the last of Hayward’s worries right now. His main focus is on making a successful return to NBA action after missing all but five minutes of last season because of a serious lower-body injury.

He’ll get that chance Tuesday night when he and his Anta shoes will hit the parquet floor of TD Garden for a season-opener matchup with Joel Embiid and the rest of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Before coming over to Beantown last year, Hayward spent seven seasons in Utah and has career averages of 15.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists.

The Celtics are now hoping he returns to form after injury.
