Gordon Hayward added another splendid performance on Tuesday night to his already impressive season.

The Utah Jazz forward led his team to an important win against the Portland Trail Blazers, and finished the game with 30 points, four rebounds and two assists. It also allowed them to create some separation from the L.A. Clippers, who are breathing down their necks, trying to snatch the fourth seed from them in the Western Conference.

It was Hayward's 12th game this season with at least 30 points as he became the first Jazz player since Karl Malone in the 2001-2002 season to achieve that feat.

The 27-year-old Butler product is having his best campaign so far with career high averages of 21.8 points and 5.5 rebounds, to go along with 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He was also named an All-Star for the first time because of his consistent play throughout the season.

More importantly for him and the Jazz, they will be making their first playoff appearance in five years. Together with Rudy Gobert and George Hill, they have made it possible for the team to win 48 games so far, and are not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon. With the confidence the Jazz now have, they will be a very difficult team to beat and could even upset one of the higher seeds in their conference.
