Gordon Hayward may have already agreed to play for the Boston Celtics earlier this month, but he still doesn’t have a lot of experience being in the city, until recently.

The 27-year-old Butler product recently appeared on The Woj Pod with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, where he shared the first time he had a night in the heart of Boston, including the time he forgot his suit and had to shop for one at Jos. A. Bank’s.

“I accidentally forgot my suit for the press conference, so we had to stop and get a suit,” he told Wojnarowski. “We were going to go to Saks [Fifth Avenue] but didn’t have time, so we jumped out of the car and just went to Jos. A. Bank’s, which I got killed on.”

“I could feel it then, though — the intensity,” Hayward said of the city’s energy. “We went to the North End and I got my hair cut, and we almost just like had a night in the heart of Boston. … We kind of just jumped in and you could feel just everybody was excited.”

Hayward’s story definitely shows how much passion and belief the Celtics fans have on their team, especially now that they were able to add another star to their already formidable lineup. After striking out on Jimmy Butler, Blake Griffin and Paul George, the addition of the former Utah Jazz forward has landed them the All-Star forward they have been looking for since last year.

Now that he will be calling Boston his new home, Hayward might need to get used to the intensity the fans are showing, and he now has a better understanding of what they are expecting from him. As the team built an even better roster, there is also added weight on the shoulders of the players to win it all, as the C’s are a storied franchise with supporters longing for another title.
