Ole Miss receiver DK Metcalf was thought to be one of the top pass catchers in the 2019 NFL Draft. He finished with 50 catches for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final collegiate season. Pair those numbers with a 6'4, 230-pound frame and he seems like a can't miss prospect. Metcalf ended up falling in the second round to the Seattle Seahawks and there might not be a better place.

For a wide receiver, getting drafted by a winning team with Russell Wilson throwing you the ball is a dream. The Seahawks are currently 10-3 and well in line for a playoff berth. Metcalf has been a key contributor throughout the season, especially over the last month.

On the season, Metcalf has been a reliable target. He has 50 catches for 783 yards and five touchdowns. He has a chance to be a 1,000-yard receiver in his rookie season. Metcalf had just 10 catches over his first four professional games.

That narrative has changed as he has caught exactly six passes in four of the last five games. Metcalf's touchdown numbers have not jumped off the page. He has found the end zone five times and two came in one game against the Atlanta Falcons.

So far, Metcalf has met the high expectations placed on him by head coach Pete Carroll. Metcalf leads all rookie wide receivers in catches and yards. He has a slight lead in both. Metcalf is on pace to have the second-best rookie season ever by a Seahawks wide receiver behind Joey Galloway in 1995.

Metcalf's Grade through Week 14

Metcalf has turned into a reliable No. 2 option behind Tyler Lockett. He has shown the physical ability to become a true red-zone threat in the upcoming seasons. Metcalf has been a deep ball threat at times as he is averaging 15.7 yards per reception.

The Seahawks landed the best receiver in the 2019 rookie class. This was a top 10 talent who was in danger of falling out of the second round. Seattle took a chance and he is making the organization look genius. Metcalf has welcomed criticism and adversity and completely stood up to it.

When looking at his rookie season as a whole, it has been strong. He has shown maturity and growth overtime which is key in rookie players. The Seahawks are happy with the way he has played. They could not have asked for much more than a possible 1,000-yard season. Metcalf is looking like a force for years to come after what he has shown this season.
