Tight end Greg Olsen parted ways with the Carolina Panthers for good following a successful nine-year stint. It seems the Seattle Seahawks have wasted no time in picking him up off the market.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Olsen has signed a one-year, $7 million deal with Seattle for the 2020 NFL season:

Olsen had reportedly garnered plenty of interest from teams like the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins that were hoping to secure a veteran pass-catcher for their young quarterbacks. However, it seems he opted to go with a bonafide superstar in quarterback Russell Wilson, and it is hard to blame him.

Olsen enjoyed modest production in the 2019 campaign after hauling in 52 receptions for 597 yards and two touchdowns. Of curse, his underwhelming numbers could be attributed to the lack of stability under center that forced the Panthers to rely heavily on running back Christian McCaffrey. Regardless, it was still encouraging to see the former three-time Pro Bowler enjoy a healthy year after foot injuries limited him to 16 games in the previous two seasons.

It is safe to say that Olsen's skill set may be better utilized by a quarterback of Wilson's caliber. Although the Seahawks are also known for their run-heavy approach, they are still in need of some more viable options in the passing game.

Meanwhile, his prowess as a blocker should allow him to etch out an integral role on offense next season. More importantly, Olsen will have another chance to compete for a Super Bowl run with an expected playoff contender in Seattle.
