There are not a lot of instances when Gregg Popovich speaks for an extended period of time especially when addressing the media during post-game interviews. However, Thursday night was different as he was asked to share his thoughts on the passing of veteran sideline reporter and his good friend, Craig Sager.

The San Antonio Spurs‘ head coach talked about what Sager has brought to the game and why he's a great person. Popovich also discussed the strength and courage he saw in him especially during his battle with cancer.

Popovich was obviously emotional during the interview as he and Sager shared a lot of good memories together. Their playful interviews during games is something a lot of people will remember for a long time.

Back in 2014, Sager was diagnosed with Leukemia and had bone marrow transplants which pushed the cancer to remission before announcing last March that it returned.

The NBA community has reacted and paid their respects to his passing and is expected to get more tributes for him in the next coming days.
