To further ramp up the anticipation for the September 19 release of the latest installment of the NBA 2K video game series, publisher 2K Sports sent a tweet regarding another pair of classic teams that can be played on NBA 2K18:

Just a couple of days prior to this announcement, 2K Sports also unveiled its first two classic teams that are playable in NBA 2K18: the 1996-97 Miami Heat and the 1998-99 New York Knicks.

With that in mind, one can't help but be somewhat underwhelmed with the latest reveal, which features two teams from one franchise that haven't really been considered as powerhouse teams. Then again, 2K Sports also announced that all 30 NBA teams will get at least one classic team in 2K18, meaning there's no reason to fret yet for those who are eager to find out what other historical teams the folks over at 2K Sports have in store.

In addition, the Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies have been around for just 22 seasons in the NBA, so it stands to reason that they'll have slim pickings when it comes to selecting “classic teams” from their organization.

Luckily for Grizzlies fans, this couple of selected teams pretty much epitomize two of the franchise's best campaigns. The 2005-06 squad secured the fifth seed in the Western Conference – the franchise's best-ever playoff seeding at the time – and featured that season's Sixth Man of the Year awardee, Mike Miller. Meanwhile, the 2012-13 Grizz – led by Defensive Player of the Year in Marc Gasol – reached the Western Conference Finals for the very first time (it's also their lone WCF appearance to date).

The '05-'06 roster also has a handful of hidden gems for die-hard NBA fans to nostalgically gush over. Anybody up for taking control of Damon Stoudamire, Shane Battier, or even *gasp* Jake Tsakalidis?
