Don’t count out Iggy just yet. In an interview with Andre Iguodala, the former Finals MVP remained optimistic of staging a comeback despite not playing a single game since his transfer to the Memphis Grizzlies.

In a move that made shockwaves around the league, the longtime Warrior was dealt by Golden State to Memphis in the offseason to create salary space, which was eventually used to acquire D'angelo Russell in a sign and trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

A former All Star with the Philadelphia 76ers, Iguodala, technically now a member of the Grizzlies, also made a stop with the Denver Nuggets before eventually finding a home with the Golden State Warriors. A franchise-altering move to the bench in the 2014-15 season for Iguodala ushered in a golden era for the Dubs.

With Andre Iguodala coming off the bench as the team’s sixth-man, the Warriors won their first title in 40 years. In the Finals of that season, Iguodala played a key role in limiting Lebron James and serving as a sparkplug off the bench.

A near miss of the championship despite a mind boggling 73-9 record the following season prompted the acquisition of Kevin Durant. The core of Durant, Iguodala, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green led to two more title finishes. Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors ended the Hampton 5 (as they were collectively called) domination of the league in last year’s Finals. With KD wishing to play elsewhere, Golden State had to shed excess salary which resulted to the Iguodala trade.

Andre hasn’t played a game this season for the Grizzlies says he’s in shape and the extended rest is a blessing in disguise. The player hinted that the time-off has healed him up, possibly extending his playing career.
