Since inking the four-year, $94.4 million max deal to join the Memphis Grizzlies, it has been a struggle for forward Chandler Parsons to live up to the massive expectations laid before him with that deal.

This has led to a strong level of disdain from some Grizzlies fans, as his contract has become widely viewed as being one of the more difficult in the league due to Parsons' inability to stay on the court due to nagging health issues. The 29-year-old has decided to issue a response via Twitter to a fan questioning why he got that deal.

Heading into that offseason in 2015, he was coming off a productive campaign with the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 13.7 points on 49.2 percent shooting from the floor and 41.4 percent from distance with 4.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per contest in 61 games played with 51 starts.

However, he had dealt with nagging leg injuries that prevented him from making a bigger impact on the court. The signs were there that injuries could quickly become a lingering issue for him, but the Grizzlies decided to pay him a max deal.

There hasn't been a lack of effort from Parsons to prove that he's over the injury bug, as he has just continued to suffer several ailments along the way in his first two years with Memphis. This has seen him suffer a partial tear of the meniscus in his left knee late in his first year with the team that prematurely ended that campaign. That, all while he missed an extended period of time due right knee soreness from late December to mid-February.

Chandler Parsons still has two more years left on his deal that could allow him to not only prove that he can finally make progress toward living up to the expectations but also that he's finally passed his injuries woes.
