Chandler Parsons hasn’t been a big help to the Memphis Grizzlies this season. Good games from the 29-year-old small forward are few and far in between, and Parsons is averaging just 8.9 points, 2.0 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game – numbers that do not justify the $24 million the Grizzlies are paying him this season.
Then again, Parsons is still trying to get his legs back from an offseason surgery to repair a partial tear of the medial meniscus in his left knee.
It takes time to fully get one’s confidence after going under the knife. Parsons’ body could be ready to get into action, but his mind isn’t set yet. In any case, getting a sweet, encouraging message from his mother must be a big plus for Parsons, who recently shared a text message from his mom prior to a game against the Phoenix Suns last Thursday.
Mrs. Parson’s text, however, didn’t translate into a good game from Parsons. The former Florida Gator swingman mustered just four points on 2-of-6 shooting from the floor, though he played in just 17 minutes.
That said, don’t expect Parsons to top getting messages from his mom.
