The Memphis Grizzlies are rolling despite playing the last few games without star point guard Ja Morant. They've won every game without Morant so far, and Desmond Bane has been a big reason why.

Save for a rare subpar shooting night against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a historic 73-point thrashing, Desmond Bane has been a top-shelf contributor for the Grizzlies. He's poured in 18, 23, and most recently a career-high 29 points against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.

Asked about drawing extra motivation from teams passing on him during the NBA draft, Bane responded in full agreement. The Grizzlies' 30th overall pick in 2020 could take the slight against nearly every NBA team, but emphasized the ones he thought had legitimate consideration for taking him – including the Dallas Mavericks.

Via Isaac Simpson:

“Every time we play against a team or organization that I felt like would be a good fit and was on me during the pre-draft process. It definitely motivates me a little bit,” admitted the Grizzlies wing.

“Like you said, I know almost all the guys who were drafted in front of me. I mean, Josh Green was drafted in front of me. I don't know if he played tonight. But y'know, that's on them. That's not on me.”

Desmond Bane certainly walks that talk, too. He may be one of the older members of his draft class at 23 years old in his sophomore season, but he's playing like he's got a lot more to prove.
