The Memphis Grizzlies will be forced to play the next six to eight weeks without Dillon Brooks due to an MCL sprain according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The second-year player out of Oregon is a promising young player for Memphis, but they'll have to figure out how to replace his production off the bench.

Brooks was a nice surprise on an otherwise dreadful Grizzlies team last year. He averaged 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game during his rookie campaign. He's taken a slight step back this season, but he's still providing solid production off the bench.

The Grizzlies were downright brutal last season. They lost Mike Conley to injury early and fired David Fizdale after sputtering early. But it appears the Grizzlies are back to what they were when they were a mainstay in the Western Conference playoffs. They're 7-4 this season and showing all the signs of a potential playoff team.

That being said, the Western Conference is loaded this year and it's going to be a grind to secure a playoff spot. Memphis' stats don't jump off the page, but it's hard to argue with the results. They've already beaten the Philadelphia 76ers, the Denver Nuggets, and the Utah Jazz twice.

They're off to a strong start and they're beating potential playoff teams. Time will tell if the Memphis Grizzlies are back to what they used to be, but they're getting off on the right foot. We'll see if Brooks' injury slows their momentum down at all.
