Despite having one of their longest losing streaks in franchise history, Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace made it known recently that they will stand pat, and will not trade Marc Gasol and Mike Conley.

The veteran front office executive cited that having young players surrounding their two big-time players has always been their plan for this season. He then added, via Tim MacMahon of ESPN, that he doesn't see any reason why either of them should be dealt, especially with both players having already proven themselves throughout their careers.

Wallace's statement definitely sends a strong message to the teams around the league that his starting point guard and center are not going to be moved. It also eases them both, as they are secured of their future with the team, and all the trade chatter surrounding them should not be a distraction.

It remains to be seen if Wallace will stay true to his word or not. There have been multiple instances in the past where an NBA team changes their decisions depending on offers given, but for now, it doesn't appear like Gasol or Conley will be wearing a new uniform anytime soon.
